It will take you several hours (and lots of walking) to fully explore INSIDE AUSTRALIA at Lake Ballard. In visiting, make sure you:

  • Check the weather forecast, ensuring you have clothing items that will allow for personal comfort in accordance with changing weather conditions – long-sleeved garments are recommended and always wear a hat
  • Have several kinds of footwear with you, allowing for the conditions you may experience on the normally dry lake surface.  When the lake surface is moist, you are literally stepping across a muddy expanse. When it’s dry, the surface is crisp and firm, crackling underfoot. Most of the time it’s in between, so sturdy walking shoes are usually more than adequate
  • Have an insect repellent and/or a fly net attached to your hat (most particularly in summer)
  • Have a camera and at least a litre of water – and in the summer glare, sunglasses are recommended
